A third novel with the working title 1863 The Great Locomotive Heist has been outlined and researched. This is the most dramatic moment in the American Civil War and already three movies have been shot namely, 1907 Andrew's Raiders , 1927 The General , and 1959 The Great Locomotive Chase . The General is one of the 100 best movies ever made. Walt Disney made the last film for he loved locomotives.
My great uncle William Knight was the Union soldier engineer on The General . And he was one of 13 men who were awarded the VERY FIRST Congressional Metal of Honor. My grandmother left the medal in New York in 1923 when she moved with my grandfather to Shanghai, China. A U.S. Senator, Alan Cranston, granted me a copy of the award and citation back some 30 years ago. As you might surmise this has been a lifelong work for me.The working novel should be rather exciting for I have found many new stories inside the major plot. This is a first class exciting action adventure novel.
